Legend has it that a vampire can only enter if invited. This old rule turns Nosferatu's menace into a question of hospitality: it is not the stranger itself that is dangerous, but the decision to let it in — or to shut it out.
The rat and the flea in the background evoke the plague that has always accompanied Nosferatu: the stranger as carrier of disease, as a screen for collective fear. This fear resurfaces with every new illness — most recently with Covid, which exposed the same old reflex: to seek origin and blame in the foreign.
A fine strand of barbed wire runs through the face as a dividing line — between its bright, familiar half and its dark, animal, rat-like skin. Good against evil, us against them, united in a single face.
The title is homage, not accusation: a bow to the stranger who is so often denied entry — though, like Nosferatu himself, all it asks for is to be let in.
